WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden has told graduates at the U.S. Military Academy that they face a vast range of complex challenges, including battling Islamic State extremists, containing outbreaks of contagious diseases and defending against cyberattacks. More than 950 cadets received their degrees and commissions as second lieutenants during today's ceremony at West Point. They included class president Eugene Coleman, who is gay, and the first seven women to be commissioned into combat divisions.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma state senator says he hasn't decided whether to try to override the governor's veto of his bill that would have effectively outlawed abortion in the state. Republican Sen. Nathan Dahm says he would like to override the veto, but won't decide until next week. The bill would have made it a felony for anyone to perform an abortion, including doctors. Gov. Mary Fallin vetoed it yesterday, saying she opposes abortion but that the bill was vague and would not withstand a legal challenge.

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Colombian authorities are reporting that five babies have been born in the country this year with microcephaly associated with the rapidly spreading Zika virus. Colombia's National Health Institute also says that there have been 4,097 confirmed cases of Zika in pregnant women so far in 2016. The mosquito-borne virus has been linked to microcephaly (my-kroh-SEF'-uh-lee), a condition where babies are born with abnormally small heads. It can also cause a potentially deadly temporary paralysis syndrome known as Guillain-Barre (gee-LAN'-bah-RAY').

BALTIMORE (AP) — Ten years after Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro (BAR'-bur-oh) broke down at the start of the Preakness, the owners of the ill-fated colt have had another horse die at Pimlico (PIM'-lih-koh) Race Course. Pramedya was euthanized after tumbling to the turf today during a race. The 4-year-old filly owned by Roy and Gretchen Jackson's Lael Stables was the second horse to die at the Baltimore track today. Homeboykris collapsed and died after winning the first race of the day.

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) — Former "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart and his wife are giving a new home to a horse that was shot more than 100 times at close range with paintballs and lost an eye from her injuries. Stewart and his wife, Tracey, adopted the 20-year-old horse named Lily, who was found at a stable in Pennsylvania in March. The horse needed surgery to remove the injured eye. The Stewarts partnered with Farm Sanctuary last year to open an animal sanctuary at their farm in Middletown, New Jersey.
