NEW YORK, Aug 2, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- In a true case of art imitating life, the first stage production of Disney's "High School Musical" will be at the training ground featured in the film "Camp."

The first license granted by Disney Theatrical Productions and Music Theater International for the staging of the runaway hit made-for-TV musical has gone to Stagedoor Manor in Loch Sheldrake, N.Y., Playbill.com reported.

The young performers training at Stagedoor Manor -- itself immortalized in the 2003 film, "Camp" -- have been readying the full-length "High School Musical" stage show, which includes all the songs from the original soundtrack as well as two new songs.

Disney said it is offering high schools a chance to stage the show, which is "geared toward high school and amateur adult performers" and also has an abridged version for middle school productions.

A "High School Musical" sequel to air on the Disney Channel is in the works, Playbill.com said.
