RENO, Nev. (AP) — The head of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management says it's time to admit his agency has a $1 billion problem. BLM Director Neil Kornze says they can't afford to wage an increasingly uphill battle to protect the ecological health of federal rangeland across the West while managing tens of thousands of wild horses and caring for tens of thousands more already rounded up in government corals.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police say a 5-year-old North Las Vegas boy who was reported missing overnight with a 22-year-old family acquaintance has been found with the man at a southeast Las Vegas casino. Officer Ann Cavaricci says Amari Connor appears to be unharmed, but is being checked at a hospital after he was located a little before 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sam's Town hotel-casino. He'd been missing for almost 26 hours. Cavaricci says Shaquille Pierce was arrested and was expected to face a kidnapping charge.

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A 30-year-old California man has been arrested for suspicion of drug trafficking and charges related to illegal cock fighting after a Nevada state trooper found a dozen caged roosters in the trunk of his car. Jose R. Ortiz of Salinas was being held in Elko County Jail Thursday on $48,750 bail for seven charges, including conspiracy to conduct fights between animals.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Drivers should come prepared for a long list of rules attached to MGM Resorts International's game-changing move to charge for parking on the Las Vegas Strip starting in June. Sin City's largest hotel-casino operator has announced the details of the new process that will roll out beginning June 6, with all MGM properties adopting the fee structure by June 13.
