MANSFIELD, La. (AP) — A dispute that turned physical between two friends briefly landed DeSoto Parish School Board member Coday Johnston behind bars.
KTBS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1WpW8a9 ) Johnston, of Stanley, was arrested Tuesday on a misdemeanor count of simple battery and released from the DeSoto Parish Detention Center.
Johnston says the incident was a "disagreement with a friend that unfortunately escalated."
The friend, Josh Gooden, filed a complaint with the sheriff's office after Johnston struck him once.
Johnston says he regrets the incident happened. It was unknown if Johnston has an attorney who could comment about the case.
Johnston is in his second term on the board.
