May is National Bike Month and you may have seen people riding green bicycles around downtown Salt Lake. GREENbike is a non-profit bike share program that grew from the desire to create an active transportation choice and provide a safe, affordable, and efficient option to get around. Benefits of bike sharing include health, air, and quality of life improvements. Last year, riders prevented more than 500,000 CO2 emissions from entering our air, and removed 632,000 vehicle miles from roads. GREENbike currently has 200 bicycles, and users can take one from any of the 24 stations and return to any station. The bikes are easy to ride and have an adjustable seat to fit everyone. So get together with your friends and family to tour the city, go shopping, grab dinner, or get to a festival and avoid searching for a parking spot. Download the free app to find bike availability and station locations, or visit greenbikeslc.org. SelectHealth recognizes the transportation alternative provided by GREENbike as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
