SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Republican presidential candidate John Kasich walks a fine line when asked about gay rights and marriage equality. During a town hall in San Francisco, Kasich said gay people are "probably" born that way, and that gays shouldn't be discriminated against. But Kasich also said he does not support same-sex marriage, and that religious views must also be honored.

BURLINGAME, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds of rowdy protesters broke through barricades and threw eggs at police Friday outside the suburban San Francisco hotel where Donald Trump courted power brokers at the California Republican convention. Several Trump supporters said they were roughed up, but no serious injuries were reported.

WASHINGTON (AP) — She doesn't have the nomination yet — but Democrat Hillary Clinton and her team are taking early steps in a general election campaign. Aides are working under the assumption that Republican front-runner Donald Trump will be her opponent come the fall. Waves of campaign staffers are being dispatched to battleground states.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The man who bought the guns used in the San Bernardino shooting last December that killed 14 victims is asking for a delay in his trial. Attorneys for Enrique Marquez Jr. want his trial pushed back from this July to March of next year, saying they need more time to prepare.

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Passengers on a cruise ship docked in Norfolk, Virginia, have been sickened with norovirus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the Balmoral, which sailed from Britain on April 16, reports 159 crew and passengers became ill. The CDC says it plans to have staff evaluate the ship when it arrives in Baltimore this weekend.
