HOUSTON (AP) — Golden State beat Houston in the second game of their playoff series without the services of Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry, who is nursing a sore right ankle. For tonight's third game the reigning league MVP will once again be on the bench watching in street clothes as he is not ready to get back on the court. Without him the Warriors took a 2-0 series lead with a 115-106 victory.
UNDATED (AP) — St. Louis and Tampa Bay can clinch spots in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with wins tonight. The Blues lead Chicago 3-1 in their best-of-seven first-round series while the Lightning top the Red Wings by the same margin.
UNDATED (AP) — South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen (WUHST'-hy-zehn) has announced he will skip the Olympics this summer. Oosthuizen, the winner of the 2010 British Open, says he is pulling out because of family and scheduling issues. Fellow major champions Adam Scott and Vijay Singh (VEE'-jay SING) have also withdrawn from the event for various reasons.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Tony Stewart will be back in his car for this week's Sprint Cup race. The three time NASCAR champion has been cleared medically to return to racing this week after missing the first eight races of the season with a fractured vertebra. The injury occurred one week before Stewart was scheduled to start his final season in NASCAR.
DALE CITY, Calif. (AP) — Play in the first round of the LPGA's Swinging Skirts tournament is taking place in Dale City, California. The early clubhouse lead is held by South Korea's So Yeon Ryu, who opened with a 9-under 63. Defending champion Lydia Ko was 4-under after 16 holes.
