PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (AP) — A stray bullet went through a wall and struck a woman in the foot while she was lying with her 8-month-old grandson on her couch.

Olga Ceron was resting with the baby in her Pleasantville home when she was shot Wednesday afternoon.

Ceron told The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1Na5DHA ) she felt something hit her, and she went to the floor with the child.

"I was laying down with the baby on the couch. And he was almost going to sleep on top of me and then I felt something that hit me so hard," she said.

Ceron said she heard multiple gunshots. When she looked out the window, there were police officers in front of her house.

Ceron was treated at the scene. She declined to go to a hospital, said Pleasantville Police Capt. Matthew Hartman.

She said her grandson David wasn't hurt.

A preliminary investigation indicates there may have been shots fired between someone in a vehicle and a pedestrian.

No arrests have been made, and there were no suspects immediately named.

Ceron said she has lived in the home for more than two decades and had felt safe — until now.

"No more. There's a lot of changes here. It's getting worse in here, there's no more safety here," she said.

Mayor Jesse Tweedle said these types of shootings hurt business in the city and people coming to live there.

"Shooting like this a block and a half from the police department, in broad daylight and the woman was holding a baby and those things are all very disturbing and very frustrating," he said.

Police Chief Sean Riggin is calling for the installation of system that detects gunshots in order to improve shooting response times in Pleasantville.
