Lineup for 2016 Twilight Concert Series announced

SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Arts Council announced the lineup of the upcoming 2016 Twilight Concert Series Tuesday afternoon.

The concerts, which run every Thursday night from late July to early September, take place at Pioneer Park in downtown Salt Lake City. Gates open at 5 p.m., and music begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $5 in advance, $10 on the day of the show at the door. Season tickets are available for $30 before June 1.

The summer's first concert is on July 21, headlined by Chet Faker, an Australian electronica artist. Kaytranada will open for Faker.

On July 28, Big Grams, a collaboration of artists Big Boi and Phantogram leads the concert. Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals open for Big Grams.

Grammy Award-winning act Diplo will headline the concert on Aug. 4. Diplo's singles have peaked at No. 1, and he won the 2016 Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Artist Jenny Lewis and group Shannon and the Clams are the acts on Aug 11 show. Lewis was lead singer of indie rock band Rilo Kiley, and Shannon and the Clams is an indie garage punk trio from Oakland.

On Aug. 18, recording artist Pusha T comes to Pioneer Park as Twilight's biggest hip-hop name. Digable Planets, a hip-hop trio, will open.

Grimes and Jagwar Ma headline Aug. 25 concert. Grimes is a Canadian singer-songwriter, and Jagwar Ma is a collaborative "musical project" by Jono Ma and Gabriel Winterfield.

The concert series wraps up on Sept. 1, with Fitz & the Tantrums, opened by Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue.

Besides music, local artisans bring booths to the show, selling clothing and craftwork. Cuisine from food trucks and various eateries also are available at Twilight Concerts.
