RIVERTON — A man was in serious condition Wednesday night after being shot by a woman in a domestic dispute, Unified police said.

The woman was later arrested, police said.

The shooting occurred inside a home at 1978 W. 12974 South around 8 p.m. after a dispute between the two escalated quickly, Unified police detective Ken Hansen said. Police were still investigating a possible motive for the dispute Wednesday night, the detective said.

The woman "apparently became very angry" with the man, Hansen said, but it wasn't immediately clear why.

The man and woman, both in their late 30s, have children together and live together where the shooting occurred, Hansen said. The man and woman were the only people the home at the time of the alleged shooting.

Neighbors said the man and woman have four children together.

Neither of their names were released Wednesday night.
