BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Trey Freeman scored 34 of his career-high 42 in the second half to set the Conference USA tournament record for points in a game and help No. 5 seed Old Dominion beat Western Kentucky 89-77 Friday and advance to the championship game.

Old Dominion (22-12), which has won seven games in a row and 12 of its last 14, will face No. 2 seed Middle Tennessee (23-9) for the title Saturday.

Freeman made 15 of 25 from the field, including 4 of 4 from 3-point range, and all of his eight free throws. Aaron Bacote added 18 points and Brandan Stith scored 14, on 4-of-5 shooting, with 13 rebounds.

Aaron Cosby led Western Kentucky (18-16) with 21 points. Nigel Snipes added 18, all on a career-best six 3s.

The Hilltoppers led 35-32 at halftime, but ODU shot 65.4 percent (17 of 26) — its season high for a half this season — and outrebounded WKU 21-12 after halftime.
