DENVER (AP) — Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will announce his retirement at a news conference later today. The soon-to-be 40-year-old Manning became the only player to quarterback two teams to a Super Bowl victory when he helped the Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 last month. The five-time NFL MVP is tops on the all-time list among quarterbacks with 200 victories and 539 touchdown passes, including an NFL-best 55 TDs in 2013.

NEW YORK (AP) — Chase Utley's two-game suspension has been dropped. The Dodgers infielder was punished in October for his hard takeout slide that broke the right leg of Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada (the-AH'-dah) in Game 2 of the National League Division Series. Utley appealed the suspension, and a person briefed on the decision told The Associated Press on Sunday that Major League Baseball and the players' union reached an agreement that rescinded the ban.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Brad Keselowski's late charge allowed him to win a Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the second time in three years. Keselowski passed Kyle Busch with five laps to go and beat Joey Logano to the checkered flag. Jimmie Johnson was third, and Busch had to settle for fourth after struggling with a right front wheel issue down the stretch.

DORAL, Fla. (AP) — Adam Scott shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to win the Cadillac Championship for his second victory in a row. His 12-under total gave him a one-shot win over Bubba Watson, who posted a 68. Scott also captured The Honda Classic last week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Maria Sharapova has called a news conference for noon today in Los Angeles to make what her agent calls a "major announcement." This comes days after Sharapova announced she was pulling out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells because of a left forearm injury, one of several ailments to limit her playing schedule in recent years. The five-time major champion hasn't competed since losing to Serena Williams in the Australian Open quarterfinals in January.
