(KSL News) A standoff in Layton is over. Police decide to leave when they couldn't coax the man from his house near 2200 N. Highway 89.
Police surrounded the home this afternoon after receiving a call from the man's wife. The two had an earlier argument and the woman left the house. Worried because the 44-year-old man had weapons in the house, she asked police to check on him.
When police arrived the man indicated he intended to hurt himself. They tried to coax him out several times, but to no avail.
After several hours police determined he was not going to cooperate and decided to leave. They do plan on following up with a welfare check.
