Bill sponsor Democratic Sen. Jim Dabakis of Salt Lake City says the plan's chances are dim, but the issue needs to be brought up.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The final person indicted in a food stamp fraud scheme in the polygamous community on the Utah-Arizona border has surrendered. The U.S. Attorney's Office in Utah says Kimball Dee Barlow surrendered today and will make his first court appearance tomorrow in St. George, Utah.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Members of Draper's Summit Academy high school basketball team say they were the object of racial slurs from fans of the opposing school during a recent state championship game. Summit coach Evric Gray says he also heard comments about the team not speaking English. Emery High School coach Todd Jeffs says he didn't hear any racially motivated comments.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah health department says a child has been confirmed to be the state's first Zika virus case. The Utah Department of Health says the child between the ages of 2 and 10 years old recently traveled to a county where the virus has spread. The child had symptoms, including a rash, but no health complications.
