GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Representatives from the company that will design the new University of North Dakota logo are scheduled to be on campus this week.

New York-based SME Branding has scheduled public meetings on Tuesday in downtown Grand Forks and Thursday at the UND Memorial Union. School officials say the meetings will discuss the design process for the Fighting Hawks logo and take suggestions about the moniker's graphic identity.

UND interim president Ed Schafer says the meetings will provide an opportunity for UND stakeholders to share their thoughts and ideas.

The school retired its controversial Fighting Sioux nickname nearly four years ago after the NCAA deemed it to be hostile and abusive. The Fighting Hawks nickname was selected in a vote of alumni, students and staff.
