ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Damyean Dotson scored 17 points and Houston beat UCF 88-61 on Wednesday night to clinch a first-round bye at the American Athletic Conference tournament.

Devonta Pollard and Rob Gray Jr. scored 14 points apiece and the Cougars (20-8, 10-6) swept the season series against the Knights to become the 22nd team in school history with 20-plus wins in a season.

UCF led 22-21, but Houston used a 15-2 run late in the first half to pull to a 37-25 at halftime behind Dotson's 12 points on 53.1 percent shooting.

Houston pulled further ahead on a 20-4 run in the second half in which Eric Weary Jr. scored seven points and Dotson scored five, and won going away.

Danrad Knowles scored 13 points and Ronnie Johnson added 10 with seven assists for the Cougars.

Chance McFadden scored 15 points and Adonys Henriquez added 12 for UCF (11-15, 5-10), which has lost six straight.
