LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge found probable cause to keep a 30-year-old ex-convict jailed ahead of an initial court appearance on murder charges in a car-to-car shooting that killed two women and critically wounded a man just off the Las Vegas Strip. Omar Jamal Talley is scheduled in court tomorrow on felony murder, attempted murder and firing a weapon charges. Jennifer Chicas and Melissa Mendoza, both 27, were killed in the Hyundai, and 29-year-old Jerraud Jackson was wounded.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a woman whose body was found at the bottom of a laundry chute at the tallest hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas over the weekend. KSNV-TV reports that the Clark County coroner's office identified the woman as 26-year-old Kalli Medina-Brown, of Citrus Heights, California. How she died is still undetermined. The case is being investigated as a suspicious death.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The top cop in Las Vegas wants more police patrolling the Strip and downtown, amid a recent series of high-profile crimes in the city's marquee tourist areas. Officials say that Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo is seeking funds to hire 67 patrol officers for the Strip, and seven more for Fremont Street. KLAS-TV reports that could cost almost $12 million a year.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — World Series of Poker organizers aim to raise the number of winners in the 2016 tournament in Las Vegas, and say the roster of entrants should top 100,000 for the first time. An event spokesman at Caesars Interactive Entertainment says table start times will be earlier for many of the 69 events. The 47th annual tournament begins May 31.
