LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A former social worker is facing at least five years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a teenage client. Donavan Faucette of Hyrum agreed to a plea deal yesterday in the case. Prosecutors say the 35-year-old man took a 16-year-old therapy client to Logan Canyon and engaged in sexual activity with her.
PHOENIX (AP) — A civil rights trial against two polygamous cities along the Arizona-Utah line is scheduled to resume tomorrow. The trial was put on hold after U.S. Judge H. Russel Holland fell ill on Monday and was taken away from the courthouse in an ambulance. Holland told jurors that he had been suffering from bronchitis.
HUNTSVILLE, Utah (AP) — A New Jersey man has died after crashing into a tree while skiing at Snowbasin Ski Resort. Weber County sheriff's officials say 56-year-old Frank Maddaloni from Califon, New Jersey, was skiing alone on Monday when he was fatally injured. Officials say he was not wearing a helmet.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — American Fork officials have met with state water regulators to discuss how to protect the area's watershed amid a proposed Snowbird ski resort expansion into American Fork Canyon The Daily Herald in Provo reports that critics worry the project to install two ski lifts and a zip line could stir up mine waste and pollute the water supply.
