SALT LAKE CITY — A 15-year-old boy police say was listed as a runaway was arrested early Friday after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle the wrong way down a one-way street and crashing into an SUV.

The crash was reported about 3:20 a.m. near 600 South and West Temple. The teen was driving a Nissan Altima that was reported stolen from the parking structure of the nearby Little America Hotel about the same time as the crash, Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan said.

The Nissan hit a Toyota 4Runner. Both vehicles ended up on the lawn in front of the DoubleTree Suites hotel, he said. The teen got out of the car and started walking away but was spotted by an off-duty Salt Lake police officer, who detained the boy, McGowan said.

Both the teen and a 35-year-old woman who was driving the 4Runner were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. The boy was then booked into juvenile detention for investigation of DUI.
