SALT LAKE CITY — Three fun stories from around the world of sports in today's From Left Field!

1. Emoji jersey in Kalamazoo

Minor league baseball's Kalamazoo Growlers are asking fans to vote for their favorite emojis that will appear on a special emoji jersey this season.

We're back at it... 😉 Vote now for your favorite emojis! #Emojersey#Growlershttps://t.co/epduGkqaYPpic.twitter.com/7vz6OQQxlT — Kalamazoo Growlers (@kzoogrowlers) February 15, 2016

Here's Kalamazoo's Brian Colopy explaining how the team got the idea:

"I don't do emojis. I'm a tough guy. I don't do that kind of stuff. When I started looking through my text messages, I started looking like wow, emoji here, emoji there — what have I become? Before you know it, this 'emojersey' thing sprung from all the emojis from everyone in our office that I was sending."

Tough guys send emojis too.

2. Flopping has arrived in hockey

Speaking of tough guys, hockey is still known as a sport for those of the tougher among us. But last night, Joseph Blandisi of the New Jersey Devils took a major dive after getting slashed in the leg.

I'm actually a little astonished that they called an embellishment penalty on him. If someone did that to me on the ice, I'd be flailing too. But I am not a tough guy.

3. Dunk team shatters backboard

Liberty University has a dunk team named SOAR, and they were sent to perform at a Baptist church in Virginia. They were doing well, until this happened:

He broke the backboard with a one handed dunk! That's pretty impressive.
