MEXICO CITY (AP) — Pope Francis is telling Mexicans at a huge outdoor Mass that there can be "no dialogue with the devil." He warned the faithful that they must resist the temptations of wealth, vanity and pride. The Mass is being held in a Mexico City suburb afflicted by murders, kidnappings and extortion by criminal gangs. Speaking out against the drug trade and associated violence is a central theme of the pope's five-day visit to Mexico.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Texas funeral home says that tentative plans call for the body of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia to be flown home to Virginia on Tuesday. The 79-year-old justice was found dead yesterday at a resort ranch in West Texas.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Records show the driver of a car that crashed while going the wrong way on an Ohio interstate had been jailed two days earlier on suspicion of drunken driving. The Dayton Daily News reports that James Pohlabeln (puh-LAB'-uh-len) was arrested after an accident early Thursday and released later that day. Authorities say he was killed early yesterday when his car slammed in to an SUV on Interstate 75 in downtown Dayton. All four people in the SUV also died.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi Arabia says troops from 20 countries are gathering in the oil-rich nation for large-scale military exercises. The official Saudi Press Agency describes them as "the largest and most important" military maneuvers in the region's history. Most of the participants are Arab and African countries, and do not include the United States and other Western powers. Saudi Arabia is part of the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State group, and also leads a coalition fighting Shiite rebels in Yemen.

BEIRUT (AP) — Turkey has shelled positions held by a U.S.-backed Kurdish militia in northern Syria for a second day. Syria's main Kurdish faction is a key ally the U.S.-led coalition battling the Islamic State group. But Turkey considers it an affiliate of a group waging a decades-long insurgency against Ankara.
