MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Bo Calhoun scored 22 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and Ball State pulled away late in the second half for a 75-63 win over Central Michigan on Saturday.
In a close game, Ball State (16-9, 7-5 Mid-American Conference) took the lead for good with the first of two free throws from Calhoun, which came during a decisive 8-0 run that made it 65-58 with 2:56 left.
Rayshawn Simmons' layup cut the gap to five, but Ball State then got a 3-pointer from Francis Kiapway to spark a 10-3 run to the final buzzer.
Franko House added 15 points, Ryan Weber had 14 and Jeremie Tyler 10 for Ball State, which hit 25 of 51 shots from the field and outrebounded Central Michigan 39-33.
Simmons led the Chippewas (13-12, 6-6) with 22 points, Chris Fowler added 15 and John Simons 11.
