EDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) — The son of a former aide to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's wife has been freed on bail on charges he fatally stabbed a teenager in New Jersey.
An attorney for 19-year-old Khari Noerdlinger says he was released Saturday, two days after a judge had reduced his client's bail from $500,000 to $300,000.
Noerdlinger faces aggravated manslaughter charges and other counts in the death of 16-year-old Savion Lewallen. He has pleaded not guilty.
Authorities have said Lewallen went to Edgewater on Jan. 31 with four accomplices in an apparent bid to rob Noerdlinger. He was killed during the confrontation.
Noerdlinger's mother, Rachel Noerdlinger, resigned in 2014 after a string of damaging disclosures about her personal life, including Khari's arrest on trespassing charges.
