BALTIMORE (AP) — Ray Sanders scored 20 points and Peter Hooley added 17 as Albany held on to beat Maryland-Baltimore County 79-73 on Wednesday night for its third straight win.

The Great Danes (18-6, 7-2 America East) have won 14 of the last 15 meetings against the Retrievers (5-19, 1-8).

Albany led since the 17-minute mark of the first half, and had a double-digit lead until Will Darley scored seven points as part of a 10-3 spurt to pull the Retrievers to 63-59 with 4:36 left.

Sanders and Hooley made consecutive layups, and Dallas Ennema hit a 3-pointer to stretch Albany's lead to 70-61. Rodney Elliott scored five points and Cody Joyce added four to cut Great Danes' deficit to 72-69 with 27 seconds left. Hooley made three of Albany's last seven free throws to seal it.

Jairus Lyles led UMBC with 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting.
