IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Idaho authorities have cleared the Madison County Sheriff's Office of any wrongdoing after some residents said concealed weapon permit funds were misused. The Post Register reports that the Idaho Attorney General's office determined that the sheriff's office didn't spend money with the intent of defrauding taxpayers.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The four occupiers of a wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon aren't showing any sign that they are ready to leave in the latest interview with them. The last holdouts gave an interview Monday with an Internet radio show. One of them, David Fry, repeated the occupiers' concerns that if they left they would be arrested.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials with the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation say they've used approximately $70,000 in private sponsorships to partially offset their depleted budget. Director David Langhorst told a state budget writing committee that private businesses like Airstream and Cabela's have funded programs.
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A locomotive leaked 3,500 gallons of diesel fuel at an Idaho rail yard before emergency crews could contain the leak. The Idaho State Journal reports that the Union Pacific locomotive was punctured in a minor derailment in Pocatello late Saturday. The fire department says no one was hurt in the derailment.
