AMHERST, N.H. (AP) — Hillary Clinton's campaign is pushing Bernie Sanders to participate in a newly proposed Democratic debate, one not sanctioned by the Democratic National Committee. The debate, announced by MSNBC and the Union Leader newspaper, would be held days before the New Hampshire primary. But Sanders has no plans to show up.

DALLAS (AP) — Texas is doubling down on the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the state. It wants court-imposed restrictions on the placement of Syrians. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton cited a recent federal acknowledgement that U.S. officials had failed to give the state advance notice of a group of refugees being resettled there.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — The national president of the NAACP is expected to meet with Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder this evening to discuss the crisis of lead-tainted water in Flint. Cornell Brooks plans to present a list of 15 priorities drawn up by the civil rights group.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal commission has selected a design for a World War I memorial to be built in the nation's capital. The commission has chosen a design called "The Weight of Sacrifice." It will feature 137-foot-long walls engraved with quotations from service members and a relief sculpture of 23 figures transforming from civilians into war-weary soldiers.
