BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho officials say alternative and virtual charter high schools are dragging down Idaho's graduation rate. State Board of Education President Don Soltman says alternative schools have a 36 percent graduation rate. He says those low numbers are the main reason why Idaho's overall high school graduation rate had recently plummeted from roughly 83 percent to 77 percent.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's top agriculture official is asking state budget writers for $250,000 to help research and dispose of hay from 2,000 acres of contaminated fields in eastern Idaho. Department of Agriculture Director Celia Gould made the request in front of the Joint Finance Appropriations panel. The contamination wasn't noticed until a ranching family reported deformities and sickness in their herds. State and federal officials began testing in 2014.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho House Revenue and Taxation Committee has voted to bring the state's tax code in line with federal rules, a move that's estimated to cost Idaho roughly $45 million. BOISE, Idaho (AP) — US Supreme Court says the Idaho Supreme Court erred when it didn't follow the precedent set by an earlier Supreme Court ruling. On a written opinion issued Friday, the nation's highest court reversed the state court's decision on how to award attorney's fees in a civil rights lawsuit. The U.S. Supreme Court ruling found that the state court failed to consider whether the lawsuit was frivolous or not when it awarded attorney's fees.
