Longtime Cardinals personnel executive dies

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — George Boone, a longtime player personnel executive for the Arizona Cardinals, has died at the age of 77.

Boone was the team's director of player personnel from 1973 to 1991. He served as the team's assistant personnel director for the preceding five years.

Boone also was director of player personnel for Indianapolis from 1994 to 1997 and Colts director of college scouting in 1998 and 1999.

He returned to the Cardinals as a scout from 2001 until his retirement in 2006.

Boone is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy, five children and 14 grandchildren.
