TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Chicago Blackhawks left wing Richard Panik will not play against Tampa Bay after oversleeping and reporting late to the team's morning skate.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville announced the decision after Thursday's practice session ahead of the game with the Lightning.

Quenneville didn't elaborate on his decision, saying "It's too fresh right now to assess it."

The 24-year-old Panik, acquired from Toronto on Jan. 3, has scored goals in each of the last two games. He has three points and is plus-one in five games with the defending Stanley Cup champions.
