KENT, Ohio (AP) — Officials with Kent State University and its faculty union have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract.
They say the tentative pact on a new three-year contract for tenured and tenure-track faculty will be presented to union members and university officials this week for a vote.
Faculty members in November had voted to authorize their leaders to call a strike if negotiations failed.
A university spokesman says details of the potential agreement won't be released until ratification.
The president of the Kent State chapter of the American Association of University Professors says faculty members will vote electronically on the contract from Wednesday through Friday.
The current three-year contract expired Aug. 23.
Both sides indicated in September that they had reached an impasse over medical and salary benefits.
