DETROIT (AP) — A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press the Tigers have agreed to a six-year, $132.75 million contract with free-agent outfielder Justin Upton. The deal is pending a physical, and Upton can opt out after two seasons. Upton hit .251 with 26 home runs and 81 RBIs for the San Diego Padres last season.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers have held their first meeting to discuss sharing a stadium that is under construction in Inglewood. The Chargers have a one-year option to reach a lease agreement and become a tenant of the stadium whose construction is being headed by Rams owner Stan Kroenke (KRAHN'-kee). NFL owners approved the Rams' move from St. Louis and the Chargers' option to leave San Diego at a meeting last week.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Doug Pederson has officially become head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles after serving as Andy Reid's offensive coordinator at Kansas City the last three seasons. Pederson accepted the offer to become the Eagles' coach last week, but the team had to wait for the Chiefs to be eliminated from the playoffs before making it official. He is a former Eagles quarterback and served as an assistant under Reid in Philadelphia.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers coach Ron Rivera says defensive end Jared Allen has a broken foot and is doubtful for Sunday's NFC championship game at Arizona. Allen sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Carolina's 31-24 win over Seattle yesterday but finished the game. Rivera didn't specify which foot was injured.

UNDATED (AP) — Another No. 1 men's basketball team has lost in the state of Iowa this season. George Niang (nee-ANG') had a team-high 22 points and Monte Morris added 20 as 19th-ranked Iowa State downed Oklahoma 82-77, the Cyclones' first win over a No. 1 team since 1957 against Wilt Chamberlain's Kansas Jayhawks. Northern Iowa beat North Carolina and Iowa knocked off Michigan State earlier this season.
