ITASCA, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say a 30-year-old suburban Chicago man has died in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 290.
The Illinois State Police reports that the Elk Grove Village man was driving on the I-290 eastbound ramp toward Thorndale Avenue in Itasca shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle veered off the ramp, struck construction barrels and hit a 20-foot box trailer that was parked on the shoulder in a construction area.
The Itasca Fire Department and the DuPage County coroner's office say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It wasn't immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
