CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Adrienne Motley scored 20 points and No. 21 Miami beat short-handed North Carolina 76-61 on Sunday for coach Katie Meier's 200th win with the Hurricanes.
Jessica Thomas and Laura Cornelius added 13 points apiece for Miami (17-2, 5-1 ACC). Cornelius also had eight rebounds and seven assists.
Motley scored 12 points in the first half as Miami built a 41-35 lead. The Hurricanes made 6 of 14 3-pointers in the frame and finished with nine.
Stephanie Watts had 19 points and nine rebounds for North Carolina (12-8, 2-3), which was outscored 24-0 in bench points. Hillary Summers added 17 points and 11 boards for her fifth double-double of the season.
It was announced Saturday that Xylina McDaniel, a four-year starter for North Carolina, would miss the rest of the season after injuring her right knee Thursday night against Georgia Tech. She was averaging 8.7 points and 6.8 rebounds this season and recently surpassed the 1,000-point mark.
