NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Nick Victor had 15 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four blocks to help Yale beat Brown 77-68 in the Ivy League opener for both teams on Saturday.
Yale (10-5) secured it in the final minute when Makai Mason and Jack Montague each made a pair of free throws 10 seconds apart to cap the scoring.
Mason had 20 points to lead the Bulldogs. Brandon Sherrod added 13 points and 10 rebounds, Justin Sears scored 12 and Montague had 11 points, six assists and four steals.
Cedric Kuakumensah had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Brown (5-10). Tavon Blackmon added 17 points and JR Hobbie scored 15.
Kuakumensah made a 3 to cut the Bears' deficit to 70-65 with 1:17 left. Hobbie again made it a five-point game on a 3-pointer with 43 seconds to go but missed his next attempt between Mason and Montague's free throws.
