NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Justin Robinson had a career-high 29 points on Friday night and Monmouth snapped Iona's 26-game home winning streak while giving the Gaels their first conference loss, 110-102.

The Gaels fell short of defending the nation's sixth longest home streak despite A.J. English scoring 45 points. He was one short of the career high he set in a 101-77 win over Fairfield on Dec. 1.

Monmouth (13-4, 5-1 Metro Atlantic) trailed 45-44 at the half and both teams started hot in the second. The Gaels (9-7, 6-1) cooled off first and the Hawks pulled ahead 86-66 with 9:27 left. English scored 17 from there to rally Iona within five with 37 seconds left.

Deon Jones added 18 points for the Hawks, who shot 67 percent (20 of 30) after intermission.

A scuffle broke out in the post-game handshake and players and coaches stayed enmeshed for minutes before leaving the court.
