ST. GEORGE — A suspected gang member wanted in connection to multiple homicides was arrested in St. George Thursday.
Carlos Gonzalez-Mendez was arrested on a first-degree felony warrant out of Southern California, according to the St. George Police Department.
Sgt. Sam Despain said Gonzalez-Mendez was living in Washington County at the time of his arrest.
"He was potentially a very dangerous individual and somebody who we're glad to arrest and not have out there in the community," Despain said.
Gonzalez-Mendez, who is allegedly a member of the MS-13 gang, is wanted in connection to multiple homicides in the Los Angeles area, according to St. George police. The SGPD's Fraudulent Identity and Security Threat Unit worked with detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service and Homeland Security to make the arrest.
Gonzalez-Mendez is not facing any potential charges in Southern Utah. It is unknown how long he was living in Washington County before his arrest.
