NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The latest Republican presidential debate featured clashes between the two leading Republican presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. The candidates tangled over Trump's questioning of Cruz's eligibility to serve as commander in chief and the real estate mogul's "New York values," with Trump besting his rival with an emotional recounting of his hometown's response to the Sept. 11 attacks.

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesian security forces could be facing a greater challenge than ever if the claim is confirmed that an attack in the capital was funded by the Islamic State group. Until now, the group was known only to have sympathizers but no active cells in Indonesia. Yesterday, five men attacked a Starbucks cafe and a traffic police booth, killing two people. Police arrested three men in raids today based on evidence found at the scene.

BRUSSELS (AP) — France is critical of the European Union's efforts to cut off finances to extremist groups. French Finance Minister Michel Sapin says the EU is moving too slowly, a year after the attacks in Paris on a satirical newspaper and kosher supermarket. He's demanding that the EU's executive Commission lay out by next month "a very precise vision of what measures must be taken."

TOKYO (AP) — At least 14 people are dead and 27 injured in a bus crash in Japan. Authorities say an overnight bus on its way to a ski resort in central Japan veered into the wrong lane and careened off a mountain road early today. The accident is the latest in a series of highway crashes in Japan involving tour buses that experts attribute to harsh working conditions for long-distance bus drivers.

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone (AP) — The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak over in West Africa but officials in Sierra Leone say a corpse has tested positive for the virus. The 22-year-old woman died earlier this month in Sierra Leone's north. Authorities are tracing her contacts and have sent teams to the area to investigate. Certain areas will be quarantined.
