CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Justin Tuoyo scored 20 points and blocked two shots as Chattanooga defeated Western Carolina 77-58 in Southern Conference play on Thursday night.
The Mocs shot 49 percent from the field with 17 assists on 24 made field goals as they improved to 4-1 in the SoCon. Chattanooga's 15-3 start is its first since the 1983-84 season.
Chuck Ester scored 11 points while Tre' McLean, Johnathan Burroughs-Cook and Greg Pryor added 10 each. McLean also had three steals and Dee Oldham nine rebounds with three assists as Chattanooga outrebounded Western Carolina 39-29.
The Catamounts (7-10, 2-2) were led by Justin Browning's 17 points and Torrion Brummitt scored 15 with 12 rebounds before fouling out. Western Carolina was charged with 24 fouls, and Chattanooga made 22 of 31 free throws, Tuoyo going 8 for 11.
Western Carolina hasn't won at Chattanooga since 2013.
