SAO PAULO (AP) — More than 300 of China's top athletes will train in Sao Paulo, using Brazil's largest city as their base for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

In a statement, the large, multi-sports Pinheiros club says it will host up to 350 Chinese athletes from June 22 to Aug. 15.

The Olympics open on Aug. 5.

The club says it will welcome athletes in swimming, gymnastics, football, tennis, rugby, water polo, volleyball, fencing, boxing, table tennis, badminton, synchronized swimming, modern pentathlon and taekwondo.

Pinheiros says the delegation will be housed at a hotel next to the club.

Sao Paulo is 360 kilometers (275 miles) southwest of Rio.
