STOCKHOLM (AP) — Latvia's president has nominated Maris Kucinskis from the agrarian Greens and Famers Union as the next prime minister.
President Raimonds Vejonis made the announcement on his official website on Wednesday.
If the nomination is approved by Parliament, the 54-year-old Kucinskis would replace Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma, who resigned in December amid reports of cracks in the center-right coalition government.
The three-party coalition took office in November 2014.
