SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — This year's graduation speaker at the University of Utah will be a former U.S. State Department adviser to Hillary Clinton who has written a book about work-life challenges for professional women.
The state's flagship university announced Tuesday that Anne-Marie Slaughter will give the general commencement address on May 5.
Slaughter is president and CEO of a public policy institute called New America. She is also a professor at Princeton University. She is the author of the book, "Unfinished Business: Women Men Work Family."
University officials said in a press release that the topic of work-life balance is especially important for its students because so many are working and have families. The university says it hopes Slaughter's speech will spur additional conversations on the topic.
