Alcorn State rolls past Grambling State for a 69-53 SWAC win

LOMAN, Miss. (AP) — Octavious Brown scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Alcorn State used a big first-half against Grambling State to post a 69-53 win to even its Southwestern Athletic Conference record Monday night.

The Braves opened the game on an 11-2 run and pushed their advantage to 15 points on Katumbusi Rahamanh's three-pointer with 6:15 to play in the first half. Alcorn State (4-11, 2-2 SWAC) took a 14-point advantage into intermission by knocking down 6 of 12 shots from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes. Tyrel Hunt scored nine of his 11 points in the first half.

Ervin Mitchell finished with 12 points to lead Grambling State (5-11, 2-2). Nigel Ribeiro contributed 11 points. The Tigers managed just four offensive rebounds in the contest and got just two second-chance points.
