Hollins, Patterson lead Omaha to 79-73 win over South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Tra-Deon Hollins had 17 points, eight assists and five steals, and Devin Patterson scored four of his 16 in the final 39 seconds to help Omaha rally from 21 points down in the second half to beat South Dakota 79-73 on Saturday.

South Dakota (9-9, 1-3 Summit League) led 54-33 with 14:03 left.

Jake White scored six straight for Omaha to start a 17-4 run that pulled the Mavericks within eight fewer than five minutes later.

Hollins hit a 3 with 7:53 left, igniting a 13-2 spurt that trimmed the deficit to 65-63.

Hollins hit another 3 to give Omaha its first lead since 3-2, and the Mavericks pulled away from there.

It's the fourth time this season that Omaha (12-6, 4-0) has overcome a double-digit second-half deficit.

White scored 15 and Thurman finished with 11 for Omaha, which has won five in a row for the first time since 2013.

Shy McClelland led South Dakota with 15 points.
