LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — John Dawson scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Liberty held off a late run to beat Campbell 55-52 on Saturday.

Up by two at halftime, Liberty pulled away on an 8-2 run to lead 40-36 with 11:45 left, then had its biggest lead of the half —52-46 — after Lovell Cabbil's jumper with 3:35 left.

Chris Clemons pulled the Camels within 52-49 with a 3-pointer, but missed two free throws, then hit two from the stripe to trail 54-51 with 1:25 left.

Kyre' Hamer made 1 of 2 free throws to pull Campbell within two points, but Dawson was fouled and sealed it with one from the line. Clemons missed two 3-pointers in the final 12 seconds.

Cabbil and Anthony Fields scored 10 apiece and the Flames (5-13, 2-3 Big South Conference) won the rebounding battle 34-20.

Clemons scored 14 for Campbell (8-8, 2-4), and D.J. Mason and Troy Harper had 11 apiece.
