PROVO, Utah (AP) — Kyle Collinsworth had 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his NCAA-record ninth career triple-double, and BYU beat Santa Clara 97-61 on Thursday night.
Collinsworth still needed two assists with 4:25 left when he reluctantly dunked on a wide open breakaway that made it 83-51. He grimaced when he looked back and found no trailing teammates to assist. From there, the BYU (11-5, 2-1 West Coast Conference) offense worked to get Collinsworth his tenth assist, dishing his passes back to him until he found the open man.
He found Nick Emery on the left wing for a 3 with 3:48 left and fed Braiden Shaw for a low-post turnaround at 3:26 to complete the triple-double.
Emery was 5 of 6 from 3-point range with 23 points. Zac Seljaas added 14 points, Chase Fischer scored 13 and Kyle Davis 10.
Jared Brownridge led the Broncos (5-12, 1-4) with 16 points.
