HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Steven Santa Ana had career highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds for the freshman's first double-double and Elon beat James Madison 79-73 on Thursday night.

Luke Eddy added 15 points, Tyler Seibring 11 points and nine rebounds and Christian Hairston 10 points and nine rebounds for the Phoenix (11-5, 2-1 Colonial Athletic), who put up 39 3-pointers, making 11.

Ron Curry scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Dukes (11-5, 1-2), who were only 5 of 28 from 3-point range. Dimitrije Cabarkapa added 18 points, and Devontae Morgan 11.

Elon led by one at halftime then outscored the Dukes 18-5 to open the second half, including six points from Seibring, for a 50-36 advantage. James Madison was within seven with under a minute to go but six Elon free throws, three from Santa Ana, were enough to hold off the Dukes.
