SALT LAKE — Moviegoers enjoyed the heartwarming, hilarious characters housed inside Riley's head in Pixar's "Inside Out," but a University of Utah student decided to see what the film would look like without them.

Film student Jordan Hanzon was on Reddit when he noticed a thread that mentioned that it would be cool if someone edited Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear out of the flick.

Hanzon also thought it would be cool and took it upon himself to spend about three or four hours doing so Friday morning.

In his video "Inside Out: Outside Edition," viewers see all the scenes of just Riley and the other human characters, adding up to a total of just over 15 minutes.

Hanzon posted the link to his Vimeo project on the Reddit thread, and within just 4 days, it's been played more than 2.6 million times.

While he thinks his version feels kind of disjointed, since it's missing so much, he was surprised that it still stood as a story arc. He also thinks "Inside Out" is one of Pixar's greatest works.

"I think you can kind of tell that it's a great work if you can take out like 80 percent of it and it still stands as a fantastic film," Hanzon said.

Hanzon said it feels overwhelming to see his video go viral, but it feels good to see that people are enjoying it. He hopes to graduate from the University of Utah next spring and to edit films or commercials in the future.
