RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are searching for two fishermen who went missing near Reno. The fishermen are from California and were last heard from around 10 a.m. New Year's Day. Their aluminum fishing boat is still missing and was last seen at Warrior Point on Pyramid Lake.
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Inclement weather forced a small plane to make a rough landing at Henderson Airport. The Clark County Department of Aviation says the Beach Craft Bonanza from Porterville, California, was on its way to Nashville last night when the plane to diverted to Henderson. The plane lost power as it approached the runway and landed in a desert area. The two people on board were uninjured.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Fitbit, a leading maker of fitness trackers, is unveiling a mid-range model with heart-rate monitoring and smartwatch-like functions at the CES show in Las Vegas. The new Blaze won't have a GPS built-in, but it will be able to use the GPS from a companion smartphone to display pace and distance more accurately. It's a similar approach to the Apple Watch. The Blaze will sell for $200 when it comes out in March.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Downtown Reno's historic post office is buzzing with new life. The art deco building closed in 2012, but it reopened yesterday with a marketplace modeled off similar concepts in New York and San Francisco. "The Basement" includes 14 local businesses in the gritty lower level of the former U.S. Post office.
