DOVER, Del. (AP) — DeAndre Haywood scored 18 points and Aric Dickerson finished with 17 points as Delaware State pounded Division III-member Summit University 93-44 for its first win of the season Monday night.
Dana Raysor added 15 points for Delaware State (1-13), which was playing at home for the first time since Nov. 21.
Haywood's layup with 12:02 left before halftime put the Hornets on top 21-4. Delaware State matched Summit's total points in the first half, and 13 Hornets scored.
Delaware State's bench outscored Summit's reserves 45-8 and outrebounded the Defenders 55-38.
Adam Brinkley led Summit with 17 points and 11 rebounds. The Defenders, who had not played since Dec. 12, shot just 18 for 65 from the field (27.7 percent), including 4 of 29 (13.8 percent) behind the 3-point arc.
