Stephen F. Austin cruises to 86-57 win over McNeese State

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) — Demetrious Floyd scored 18 points as defending champion Stephen F. Austin opened Southland Conference play with an overwhelming 86-57 win over McNeese State on Saturday night.

Stephen F. Austin (8-5, 1-0) has been the dominate team in the Southland, going 36-1 against conference foes in the two-plus years under coach Brad Underwood.

Floyd was 7 of 11 from the floor, making four from beyond the arc. Thomas Walkup pulled down 12 rebounds, had nine points and dished out eight assists. Clide Geffrard added 14 points and Ty Charles chipped in 11.

The Lumberjacks sprinted to a 10-2 lead and were up 36-22 at the break. SFA never trailed and hit 12 of 26 from long range and shot 48 percent from the floor.

Jamaya Burr led McNeese State (2-9, 0-1) with 13 points, James Harvey had 12 and Lance Potier 10.
